Starting your day with a delicious cup of Nicaraguan coffee not only makes your day, but also helps out the farmers who work hard a making a dignified living selling their coffee. W/NP has been selling what was formerly known as Alterra Coffee since 2006. Earlier this year, the Learning Center Trek made a stop at Prodecoop http://www.prodecoop.com/in Estelí, Nicaragua, where the coffee is grown by 2,300 small farmers with 30% being women. It was a delight to learn the additional services the co-op provides to the farmers, such as marketing, cooperative development including technical assistance, training, credit, institutional strengthening of cooperatives, improving coffee quality and social projects.
